"Tiffany Wong’s work is profoundly shaped by the experience of motherhood, a recurring theme throughout Lullaby of the Sleepless. From the beginning of her artistic career, which coincides with her first maternity leave in 2018, Wong explores the nuances and challenges inherent in the maternal role. At this pivotal time, she evokes a sense of floating, where days merge into nights, as well as a deep love for her unborn children.
By integrating her reflections on motherhood into her compositions, Wong begins to view the world through the lens of childhood, revealing that the forms she creates naturally emerge from the innocent and awe-struck discoveries of children. This deliberate approach gives birth to a unique visual language, where each element tells the story of sensory exploration with an intentional lightness.
Simultaneously, Wong channels experiences where light and darkness subtly merge, embodying them in a series of canvases where variations in hue evoke different facets of motherhood, particularly the upheavals of postpartum. This representation challenges the traditional myth of the all-powerful mother, suggesting instead an introspection into the pitfalls of this sacred role."
